Steadfast Sis Spotlight: Hope Harris (Founder of the Positive Statement Co.)

What is a Steadfast Sis? She is someone who is rooted in the Word, unwavering in her faith, unshakable through trials, faithful to her relationship with God, and confident in her identity as a daughter of Christ. While she understands she will never be perfect at all of these things, she intentionally draws closer to God so her trust in Him deepens each day. The fruit of being steadfast begins to blossom as she pursues Him in everything she does.

To kick off the Steadfast Sis Spotlight, I want to introduce to you the lovely Hope Harris from the Positive Statement Co. (PSC)! I had the wonderful privilege of having Hope as my small biz coach for a couple of months and she played a BIG part in the upgrade of TSL. Her desire to see others succeed, selfless heart, and deep love to share Christ through PSC is the reason I chose her as this month’s Steadfast Sis!

Hope is an entrepreneur at heart and is talented in so many different ways. While her main product in the PSC shop was her beautiful handmade clay earrings, I’m excited to see where God is leading her and the PSC community. I am confident you will fall in love with Hope by the end of this post! Here is a short interview with the PSC founder:

I know that the Positive Statement Co. wouldn’t be the same without God.

1. Tell us a little about yourself!

I’m Hope Harris! I grew up in a town of 10,000 people called Greenwood, AR! I went to Pepperdine University - that wasn’t part of the original plan. I didn’t think I’d be able to financially afford it. 8 days before school started my mom got a call that I got additional scholarships from anonymous donors and I’d be able to go. That changed my life.

I majored in Public Relations and moved to DC after college to work for a tech company. My husband, Will, is my world and we got married right out of college. We did long distance the whole time. After living in DC for a year, we both moved to Bentonville, AR. We got our pup Sadie Belle and have been obsessed ever since. We both love traveling together!

2. Why PSC?

I wanted to start a brand that stood out and had a meaning. I knew whatever direction God took this brand, I want it to be focused on positivity and bringing people happiness

3. Why clay earrings?

I had recently found out about this trend and thought it would be so cool to make products that attracted the community I was craving.

4. What’s the process like for creating clay earrings?

It’s a really cool process! I start by coming up with a color palette from inspo. I hand blend the clay colors, cut the clay cuties, bake them, drill them, and assemble them.

5. Where do you get your inspiration from?

I get my inspiration from colors and the feelings they bring. I also get my inspiration from places I’ve traveled and coffee shops.

6. When people come across your business, how do you want them to feel?

I want people to feel a sense of belonging and a warm welcome. I want them to notice there is something different about PSC and that there is a real community of authentic women that are on this journey with them.

7. What’s your favorite thing about PSC and running small biz?

The people! I can’t even use both hands to list out the amazing friendships I’ve made through PSC! It’s crazy the plethora of incredible friendships that can be created through putting yourself out there!

8. How do you stay steadfast in your faith while running a small biz?

I use the community as an opportunity to spread Jesus’ love. I try to dig into God’s word and really get to know people. I enjoy seeing how God is using them and what page out of their book I can take to keep on this race to bring glory to His kingdom. I know that PSC wouldn’t be PSC without God and I remind myself of that daily through prayer and reflection.

9. How do you use PSC to share God’s love?

I try to show God’s love and what He is doing in our lives every chance I get. I really feel like I get to share His love through rallying our PSC community together and giving 10% of all profits to YouVersion! I also use PSC profits to support a kindergartner through Global Education Ministries. Someone showed me how big God was by donating to my education and I hope to pay this forward to little Sophia!

10. What advice would you give to other creatives?

Stay true to yourself. Be genuine and be kind every chance you get. Take a break when you aren’t creative and don’t give up. You’ll have a breakthrough when you least expect it. Meet people and let God show up.

11. What does the near future hold for PSC?

Community community community! This year will be all about honing in on the people. Products will happen, but it won’t be the focus. I’m so excited to make new friends and grow friendships that are already happening.

12. What has been your greatest takeaway from 2020?

Show up and get out of your comfort zone. This is an experience unlike any other and if you show up and push yourself the uncomfortable will help you reach new limits.
